How to get around in Ljubljana

Public transport

The easiest way of getting around is by city bus (LPP). As a EUTOPIA Week participant, you can travel by the LPP bus for free! All you have to do is keep the nametag with you and present it to the bus driver.

To travel by bus, you must purchase the Urbana public transport card, available at LPP ticket offices, tourist information centres and most of the city's newspaper kiosks, news-stands and post offices. You can also add more cash on the card in these same sales outlets and at the Green Urbanomat ticket machines around the city centre, such as the bus stops Ajdovščina and Konzorcij. Most urbanomats only accept cash.

The card costs 2€ and each can store up to 50€ of credit to be spent on bus rides.

A single bus ride costs 1.30€ and it includes an unlimited amount of bus transfers within 90 minutes of the first card validation. You have to validate the Urbana card every time you enter the bus at the machines located next to the bus driver.

If you wish to check arrival times you can use the Google maps app/site, which show you accurate arrival times of the buses you need , or download the LPP app. For iOS users: Ljubljana bus and LPP vozni red app for andorid users.

Another eco-friendly option of getting around Ljubljana is BicikeLJ, the city bike-sharing system. For more detailed information and specifics steps on how to hire a bicycle please visit this page.
